What Brought Us to Tri-Cities TN/VA Area: Johnson City- Kingsport, Bristol TN/VA?
Twenty Eight years ago, my husband and I were looking for the PERFECT place to relocate: to live, to work, and to raise our children. Little did we know that we had also found the PERFECT place to retire in the future!Kingsport, TN was advertising for a Neurologist, but Johnson City, TN, was not at that time. Never having been to Tri-Cities, TN, despite living in NC for many years, we visited Kingsport and found a lovely town, but were particularly drawn to the people, the beauty of the area, and the outstanding medical community as a whole! Tri-Cities people are warm and accepting, the schools are good, the weather provides 4 moderate seasons, the job market is excellent, the shopping is diverse, and there are so many free and exciting outdoor opportunities, festivals and ‘artsy-crafty’ activities within a short drive. While we chose to live in Johnson City, as it suited our needs better at the time, the entire Tri-Cities area soon became our “heaven on earth!”Our sons are grown now and we are looking ahead to our retirement years. There are many activities that we enjoyed when our children were young, that we will enjoy once again, from a NEW perspective, when we retire in a few years. What Brought Us to Tri-Cities TN/VA Area: Johnson City- Kingsport, Bristol TN/VA?

What Brought Us to Tri-Cities TN/VA Area: Johnson City- Kingsport, Bristol TN/VA?
Twenty Eight years ago, my husband and I were looking for the PERFECT place to relocate: to live, to work, and to raise our children. Little did we know that we had also found the PERFECT place to retire in the future!
Kingsport, TN was advertising for a Neurologist, but Johnson City, TN, was not at that time. Never having been to Tri-Cities, TN, despite living in NC for many years, we visited Kingsport and found a lovely town, but were particularly drawn to the people, the beauty of the area, and the outstanding medical community as a whole! Tri-Cities people are warm and accepting, the schools are good, the weather provides 4 moderate seasons, the job market is excellent, the shopping is diverse, and there are so many free and exciting outdoor opportunities, festivals and ‘artsy-crafty’ activities within a short drive. While we chose to live in Johnson City, as it suited our needs better at the time, the entire Tri-Cities area soon became our “heaven on earth!”
Our sons are grown now and we are looking ahead to our retirement years. There are many activities that we enjoyed when our children were young, that we will enjoy once again, from a NEW perspective, when we retire in a few years. We look forward to those days and continue to be thankful for the day we learned about “THE Best Kept Secret in America”…….. the Tri-Cities TN/VA area, also known as “THE BEST PLACE in the U.S. to live AND to retire!”
